Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.

-I’m educated in political science/international relations from Copenhagen University and as a documentary film director from Goldsmiths College, London. I’ve worked in the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.(MFA) I did one doc for TV before on a Danish top-politician, Villy Søvndal. For the previous two years I’ve been making this film The Agreement.

How did you get the idea for the film?

-I saw Robert Cooper at a conference arranged by the MFA and was blown away by his character, British humour and reflected approach to diplomacy.

What was the hardest during the filming?

-Getting the access, building the trust and taking good care of it – at the same time at selling the film for TV. I was many times worried I couldn’t both make a film that all participants would feel well represented in, not harming the political process and delievering a good and uncompromised film for TV.

What was the most exciting thing about this film project?

-To get to know the main characters and be inside the negotiations in Brussels.

What was the driving force behind it?

-The idea of telling a positive story of powerful people, making a difference – and not least the European Union, which is rarely presented as a positive story. But I believe very much in diplomatic processes and I believe that there are good people (not all of course) in top diplomacy and top politics that actually believe in what they are doing.

What is the next project for you?

-Still not completely settled but it will again be a character-driven film on people involved in international relations.

What do you think about the CPH:DOX festival?

-I think it’s great!!:-)

Many thanks for your time. Good luck with your movie.
